Dzu-Teh: Ape or Bear

Out of all the three types of Yetis, (the Nyalmo doesn’t count because it’s 15 feet tall and just a hallucination of a 7 foot tall being on its hind legs on a mountain top), the Dzu-teh or Cattle bear is the most controversial of the yeti types. The favorable belief is that it’s described as big, hairy, brown and kills yaks by twisting their horns thus breaking their necks or punching the skull with one punch. The reason why I believe it’s an ape and not a bear is because the Sherpas deny that the Dzu-teh refers to the Himalayan Brown Bear or any bear species native to the Himalayas because it doesn’t match their behavior or their dietary lifestyle. Himalayan Brown bears are omnivorous but occasionally can go for sheep and goats. Tibetan Brown bears eat only the Himalayan Pikas (with help from the Tibetan Fox). Black bears don’t go for livestock. Plus, the Dzu-teh is only found further away from the Himalayas and lives only in Upper Indochina and the Chinese slopes.
