I posted this in a comment last year but sharing for options on what it could be.
It was dark, a mile or so from the river, lots of woods. We were driving. No cars coming or anything. Night, like after 10, and not near a town. Right on the edge of our headlights I saw something run across the road. Super fast. So fast I almost thought it was a glare on my glasses. I didn’t say anything at first cause my husband does not believe in paranormal stuff, Bigfoot, nothing like that. I happened to look over and he had a weird look on his face. I asked if he had just saw that. He said yep. I said something really tall and thin? He said yep. Now this next part I was afraid to say cause I thought he would think I was crazy but I said it anyway. I asked if it looked like a very tall stick (like a thin tree or a stick from a tree) with arms and legs? And he said yes. It really bothered both of us. I’ve never seen anything like it and didn’t even know it was a thing until I started to google it. I’ve seen ghost and things but nothing like this. This thing was so fast if you blinked it was gone. And when I say tall, like 10 feet, maybe more. We saw it just for a second in our headlights. I saw it take maybe 2 steps before we past it. Arms swinging. Very very thin. It looked like a twig with arms and legs. If my husband hadn’t seen it too, I would have never believed I had actually seen it. I know people will doubt it happened but I know we saw something.
