Security Stories/u/eclectic_boogaloo2

Hello and welcome. I was wondering if anyone had any paranormal experiences will while working security?

Currently, I work security at an university just under two hundred years old. I normally just work at one building during the week, but I have been picking up other shifts on the campus during the weekends. This past weekend, I had been doing an outdoor patrol around parts of the campus that I had not been too familiar with. My partner on patrol wanted to check out some of the oldest buildings on campus that are currently unoccupied and awaiting renovation.

The first building we visited was unsettling. Built in the latter half of the nineteenth century, it was in the midst of a renovation and it was obvious that work had been done recently. However, when I first walked in the building, I could have sworn that I heard someone else in the building besides us and was a bit uncomfortable that a motion detector light had turned on in a room down the hallway far away from where we were. We investigated the whole building and could not find anyone else there.

The next building was vast and majorly gutted on the inside. It had a nice, old brick façade and was built in the early twentieth century, but we were uncertain of when it had last been worked on. The elevator was rather antiquated and somehow still functioning, but we weren't courageous enough to take it up to any levels. Overall, it was spooky that it was empty and piles of rubbish were everywhere, but I didn't get any unsettling feelings.

The last building we visited was among the most unsettling buildings I had ever visited. This last building was one of the oldest extant buildings on the university, but has sat unoccupied for almost two decades while they figure out what to do with it. I had previously tried exploring it on my own during the day, but I got bad vibes immediately after walking in on the first floor, did a quick patrol and quickly got out of there. However, when we both arrived this time, we both immediately noticed the awful smell coming from inside and decided to be cautious and put on our masks before we continued. Beyond the smell, there were dead mice scattered across the building, often found at the top of stairs or in the door frame of the rooms.

The rooms were almost too small to be classrooms and we speculated about whether the building might have been used as a house or a dormitory in years past. While it was still daylight outside, it was rather dark in the interior of the building. We had our brand new, fully charged LED torches with us, but I started to get nervous when mine started to malfunction. I turned it off and struggled to get it back on as we ascended up through the steep stairs of the building.

I don't recall if it was the second or the third floor, but when we passed through one room, I saw and felt what I can only describe as passing through a veil. At first I thought it could have been dust, illuminated by the light that passed through the windows or perhaps a smudge on my glasses which could have caused this image, yet I could not reproduce the effect. It was in this dark room with no windows in the interior where it was as if I passed through a mist or a dry cloud. I suddenly got this feeling that it was a testing room and had a brief mental image of desks occupying this now empty space and even imagined what it would have looked like 50 or 60 years ago. My partner was definitely braver than I and insisted that we continue to climb up to the top floor...
