I have no idea./u/buck_idaho

A little bit of history first. My wife passed away in her sleep in Sept. and I haven't been sleeping well since then. My youngest daughter is still at home and between us we have 4 dogs. 2 are mine, an old springer spaniel, and a crazy golden retriever, one was my wife's, a standard poodle, and my daughter has a standard poodle as well. I live in rural north Idaho, 5 or 10-acre lots, I have 10 and it's mostly treed.

This morning I woke up early because the golden was pushing me off the bed, I ask her to move and she jumps down. A few minutes later the poodle jumps up and lays down next to me. I had gone into the living room and retrieved my tablet and had on a "widow" podcast listening to 2 widows discussing their lives. And that was when I saw a flash of white light, just for a second, not a flash like a camera flash, but like someone shining an LED flashlight through the window, the flash was more like a ramping up and down, just for a second or 2. I sleep with the bedroom door open as my daughter sleeps in the basement with her dog. My golden has very good hearing and barks at everything.

Now I know what you are thinking, someone was looking around outside, except my house sits about 300 feet off the road in trees, we still have over a foot of snow on the ground, it snowed about 6 inches more yesterday, I have motion lights front and back, and a security camera system (8 cameras - left over from when my wife ran an in-home daycare). No lights on outside and the security system isn't recording, as it is motion activated. I do have LED lights in the house, but this was just to a small area, On a little bookshelf we keep in the hallway with cookbooks and the top is a memorial for our past dogs. (We love our dogs.)

I got up and walked out into the living room and nothing is going on. No outside lights, no recording on the security system, just our normal, semi-dark living room. We have a neon tube wall clock and it lights up the room. The camera looking at the cars in the driveway was just a normal view. Nobody there.

I tried to talk to my daughter about this when she got up for work, but she started to tear up and didn't have the time.

I'm at a loss for what I saw. I miss my wife and think of her all the time and it's hard to believe that she is gone. Very hard to believe.

Thanks for reading.
