A night at a Hospital/u/Hilltop501

This is from around January 2016. My late Grandfather (passed in 2019) was admitted to the usual hospital for low sodium and diabetes. Since my grandma and other family members has a few health issues, I being the young kid do the night as an attendant

My grandfather needed a change of bottle of sodium drip probably about every 2.5 hours, so basically I couldn't sleep and that was okay since I was an engineering student at that time and had habit of pulling all night study sessions.

It's about 4 am in the morning, after calling the nurse to change the bottle. I decide to go down for a walk. We were on the 3rd floor but I avoid the elevator as I don't like those big ass ones used in hospitals.

I go to the ground floor, smoke a cig and then decide to go back, but while climbing up the stairs, once I reached the first floor, I felt a sudden overwhelming feel of dread and my legs felt like they had no strength in them, I felt like something was holding me from behind. No I didn't feel like there was any hands or anything. Just a force. I was so tired in 10 secs that all I wanted to do was sit down right there.

And then when I made to the 2nd floor, I saw the big OT room, and I realised there must be something with me right now. I never had an experience in that hospital so I didn't think about it. But suddenly it hit me as to how many people must have died in the building. I pushed myself and as soon as I reached the room, the feeling was gone. Just in a second.

I never saw anything, but I swear to god, the feeling of dread all of a sudden was absolutely mental. Almost like a fight or flight response. Does anyone else have an experience like that?
