A strange occurrence with closed caption tv/u/Dry-Material6693

I wanted to see if anyone else has ever had a strange experience with close captions on tv. I’m not really sure if this is paranormal, but it gave me the creeps then, when it happened, and I still think about it every now and then.

When I was about 15 years old, around 1998, I was up late one night by myself. Back then I had recently discovered closed caption on tv’s so I always had it turned on, just for the heck of it, even though the volume was turned up too.

It was probably around 1 or 2 o’clock in the morning and I was watching some kind of spooky-ish true information show on TLC or Discovery channel, I can’t remember which or what it was specifically about. But I think it was one of those shows that tell about the history of the pyramids and UFO’s and all that.

So, the tv show went to commercial as usual and I was still reading the CC and listening to what was on, when all of a sudden during commercial break the tv screen just goes black. The tv was still on and working but it’s like the channel had some technical difficulty or something… So I’m just sitting there for several seconds waiting on something to come back on the screen, when I see on the black screen in CC, the question, “DO YOU BELIEVE IN SATAN?” …

The screen was still dark and nothing else and no sound was coming from it, but it just had that question on it in close captioning. It stayed like that for probably 30 or 40 seconds and finally a regular commercial came back on. But even with the commercial on, the creepy question lingered on the screen until after the regular programming came back on. It was probably stuck on the screen for a minute or two while the tv show was back on. Those words were never a part of a real commercial or the tv show itself. It eventually went back to normal and started working correctly again.

So, like I said, it was not really a big deal but it creeped me out then and I wanted to know if anyone else had any rouge captions using CC?
