Alrightyyy! So, I was born and raised in Henderson, NV and eventually moved to Chicago in 2018. I haven’t been back there since. When I was a kid I experienced weird sh*t but I couldn’t get myself to believe in the paranormal. I was annoying and also had a logical explanation for everything. Lo and behold, I became a believer when I moved to Chicago.

I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and I started to recall the spooky sh*t that happened back in Nevada. If you’re familiar with the town of Henderson then you know where River Mountain is located. Well I lived in that neighborhood, near River Mt. Park.

Everyone’s backyard was the desert and mountains. People would take their four-wheelers into the desert or go set up camp in the mountains. I would always go hiking with my friends after school or on the weekends, and when we were out there all would be quiet. Especially if you go behind the mountains. But we’d hear voices, or people trekking behind us when no one was there. We’d hear whistling or flutes. Sometimes hoofs on the ground. At the time I told myself it’s sounds bouncing off the mountains or being carried by the winds. That’s how annoying I was.

But I remember this one day. I was home alone playing a video game in my room. The bedroom window was open (there’s a screen in it) so my cat can look out it. While I was playing I heard my neighbor, Tod, whisper outside the window, “Danielle —can you let me in?”

I turned around and no one was outside my window. I went to it thinking that he was ducking under the window, or was standing in the driveway. I looked and didn’t see anyone. I learned later that day that Tod went to the community pool with his family. It spooked me because I didn’t know who was calling to me from the window. I so badly wanted to believe that it was a person and not a ghost, but now I believe it was a spirit.

Here’s something that’s even crazier. The kids in school talked of Skinwalkers, and of mimics. A lot of us experienced hearing our family calling to us when they’re not around, or seeing our friends doppelgängers. Animals were being abducted from backyards and found mutilated in the area. Like weird shit went on when I was a kid and I was oblivious to it all.

I reached out to my childhood friends and asked if they recalled anything spooky, and they do. Lately I’ve been thinking about writing about those experiences and putting them on my blog.

Is there anyone here who’s from the southwest that has experienced anything spooky?
