i woke up in the night, and all i saw was pitch darkness/u/jazziemoomoo889

Since i posted my past story here, it triggered a memory of another really weird thing that happened to me when I was around 7-8 years old. The house i was living in at the time was really creepy. I’d hear random thumps down the hallway at night, see shadows move out of the corner of my eye, and i swear i saw a beast of some sort in the woods next to the house, but my parents insisted it was my young imagination.

My bedroom was small, but i had the bed along the back wall where there was a really large window. The window had wooden blinds that i’d never shut because i used to like the sun waking me up in the morning, and i was terrified of the dark so i loved having the moonlight come through the blinds and illuminate my room. i went to bed like normal one night, and remember waking up at some odd hour and my room was pitch black, like pure pitch black. i thought maybe i was dreaming, so i hit myself and instead just hurt myself and didn’t wake myself up from the dream i thought i was in. I felt my way up to and peeked out the blinds, and i couldn’t see anything. The moon would generally light up the whole back area, but there was nothing. just pure pitch blackness.

I was scared of the dark, but for some reason, i wasn’t scared of this. Instead, i got myself up out of bed and slowly felt around in the darkness and found my light switch, which wouldn’t turn on. Then i opened the door and looked down the hallway, yet again just pitch blackness. I slowly walked down the hallway and it was deafeningly silent, but i wasn’t scared. i felt my way out into the really living room where we had about four sliding glass doors. There was no light coming from anywhere outside, and not even any light coming from the electronics. This was really strange as I used to come out for water during the night all the time, and I’d always had the moon to light the way for me. But that night, there was just nothing.

I opened the fridge which let light into the living room, and when I looked over to one of the doors with the light now shining, i saw a pair of glowing white eyes. me being a kid, i thought it was the fridge light and shut the fridge door, which in turn left me again in the pitch black, but those eyes remained in place. They weren’t there before when i walked up to the windows to try and see outside, and i remember feeling this dreadful and scared feeling like i needed to get back to bed. I slowly felt my way back down the hallway and managed to find my way back to my bed. I remember feeling safe once i got there, and i fell back asleep. I tried to tell my parents the next morning, but they insisted that I was dreaming. I know i wasn’t dreaming, because I remember the fear i felt when i saw those black eyes. I’ve had lucid dreams before and I’ve been able to control my dreams from a young age, and I know for a fact this wasn’t a lucid dream. I don’t know why i wasn’t scared, because if that were me now i’d be terrified.
