My whole life, I’ve been sensitive to the paranormal. To put it simply, a ghost of some sort always finds me everywhere I go. But that’s not my problem. Just setting the stage of my familiarity.
The house we moved into about 4 years ago has something paranormal in it but it doesn’t usually make itself known. When we moved in, my son was about 2 or 3. There was 1 corner in the unfinished basement my son was terrified of and said a monster was behind the basement wall trying to break the wall down and get in. And it wasn’t long after moving in that my son had nightmares – almost every night. 1 of those nights, my wife went into his room to try to console him from his nightmare. She immediately felt ill when she did that. Felt like she was going to vomit, couldn’t stand up, cold sweats. She crawled to the bathroom. I took her temp multiple times and it was mid 80s. Then after a short while, she felt normal again. Sickness passed. Other things that have happened include lights turning on/off on their own, seeing shadows, disembodied voices, and feeling being touched.
Well, since the night my wife was sick, I hung a cross over my son’s bed and saged the house. That helped for the most part but not 100%. It just got quieter.
It’s been a few more years, my son doesn’t remember having nightmares or the corner he was afraid of anymore. But lately, he’s been complaining about feeling sad and not knowing why and about a ghost nudging him awake every night. He believes the ghost is his older sister. He’s an only child. He says he loves his sister and misses her as if he remembers her when she was alive. I’m worried this “sister” is a malicious spirit and depressing my son. But I’m also unsure if this is his imagination at play and he has a real issue with depression.
What can I do? How can I research my home’s history to see if there were any deaths in the home? How do I know what’s in my home and if it’s affecting my son? And how do I protect him?
