We lost my Grandad a few days ago, we were extremely close and I stayed with him whilst he was dying.
The first weird thing happened whilst he was still alive. I stayed with him for 3 nights as he was dying, helping with end of life care. I’d been in his room almost 24/7, but when it became clear he was very close to the end, I left the room so my Nan could have time to say goodbye without me there. I sat in the room next door and listened to her cry, and tried to fight every urge to run in and comfort her. About 10 minutes went by and I was desperate to just go and hug her, as I was staring into space, my charger which I’d put on the table in front of me, flew off the table almost horizontally. As if someone had swiped it off the table in anger or frustration. I was in shock for a few seconds, but then jumped up and ran in, seeing it as a sign from someone to go take care of my Nan.

Once he had gone, I naturally wanted a ‘sign’ from him, but then reminded myself that my grieving brain would ‘look for signs’ that were in fact, perfectly explainable. A few ‘explainable’ things happened, his newspapers went missing, white feathers, all that stuff. The first really strange thing was that I went to retrieve my ‘build a bear’ my Grandad made me, with his voice recording inside. I’ve pressed this bear weekly for the last 20 years, it’s always worked perfectly fine. I pressed it before I went to stay with him, it was working normally. Once I mentally prepared myself to hear his voice, I pressed the bear and to my shock, was met with strange static, human sounding noises, kissing noises (like a peck on the cheek) the sound of someone typing, all of this went on for OVER AN HOUR. Could it be the fact the bear is 20 years old? Yes, but the chances of it playing over an hour of strange noises, only after he died, was pretty bizarre.

Finally, this morning me and my Nan were awoken by the house phone ringing at 7:30am, which is also the time he died. My Nan answered and I heard her sounding flustered and getting up, I went down to ask who on earth it was and she just said ”It was a man, and he just said, ‘Bye!’ and hung up!” Nan proceeded to get upset and got my brother to block the number, thinking it was someone playing a horrible joke on her. I genuinely think it was my Grandad. Is there anyone else who has had this experience? I‘m trying to make sense of it.
