Ever since I can remember I’ve had some scary experiences with things I can’t really explain. From things falling off counters to seeing people that weren’t there. It became a norm for me and my family to the point of us ignoring things. I believe it was all connected to the house we were living in at the time, because as soon as we moved out these “unexplainable” things hit a plateau. But this experience was too stunning to ignore.

First, a little bit to know before I start the story. It was a pretty chill night at my house, everyone was asleep except me, my sister, and my brothers baby, Avery who was about 10 months at the time. Avery was very attached to my sister so she often slept with us. Me and my sister shared a room with a bunk bed, and of course being the youngest I got the top bunk. This bunk bed was worn and creaky, if someone was moving or doing anything at all it would make a noise.

Anyways, on this night I was watching tv while my sister went out to do something leaving Avery sleeping on the bottom bunk. She had been in a deep sleep for about 30 minutes and usually when she hits the 10 minute mark we know she’s out for the night. To my surprise my sister came back to the room pretty quickly and sat down very aggressively on the bed as well as leaving the door open. Her heavy sit cause a very loud creak to come from the bed, so loud it made the baby wake up.

I heard a quiet “shh” come from my sister from the bottom bunk. Avery started crying heavily, I’ve never heard her cry so hard but I chose to ignore it because my sister was with her and would calm her down, but after 20 minutes went by of constant crying I couldn’t take it anymore. I wondered what my sister was doing instead of comforting the screaming baby right beside her. I was annoyed beyond belief.

” Are you seriou-“I bend my head over to look at the bottom bunk and all I see is Avery, sitting there tears rushing down her face…alone. My heart completely drops, it felt like I couldn’t breath for a second. My body went completely cold although I was in a well heated house.

My sister then bursts into the room screaming at me for not doing anything about the crying baby. I was absolutely stunned. I seen my sister come in, I heard her sit down, and the door was still wide open from when she first came in. She asked me why I wasn’t doing anything and I simply replied “I thought you were in here”.

To this day she says that I was the palest she’d ever seen me. Neither of us can explain who or what I saw, or what it was trying to do to the baby.
