For my issue I would assume this is the right place to put this post.

Before I begin my story/question about what the hell is going on please let me introduce myself.

I am a 46 years old family man, engineer, and a big guy, 6’3″ and muscular. What type am I? I’m not the easy scary type and one of the most thing I enjoy is camping by myself as far away from other people as possible. Hunting and fishing my own food. At home I love my wife and kids more than life itself. At the same time I do enjoy nights alone in our house when everything is quiet and peaceful.

That changed during last year. It all started with a dream. I remember having a fight or flight situation with, let’s call it, a demon. I choose to face it and fight. I recall every moment of it because I went in with my life. You know when everything slows down and every moment are taking an eternity. That’s how focused I was. Anyhow, the demon backed and I thought it was great because that means I had won.

Something changed that night and are with me wherever I am. More often when I’m alone, but it also happens when I’m with other people. My body goes first icy cold cribbling all over and then into full fight or flight modus. Our cat notice there is something as well. If she is sleeping she can suddenly wake up and start looking at a point in the house just after my neck hair is rising and my body goes full alert.

One night me and our cat was relaxing in the living room after my wife and kids went to bed my body went icy cold and I knew someone or something was there. We suddenly heard a noise from the kitchen like something was rearranged and the cat disappeared under the sofa. I, on the other hand, stood up and went for the kitchen to find out what the heck was going on. I didn’t find nothing, absolutely nothing.

I am a grown man and out of the blue my body goes full alert and I’m afraid and feel vulnerable. At least I know I will choose to fight for myself and my family. On the other hand I know it’s not enough. My opponent is too strong.

I see myself as a rational man looking for solutions, not problems. This is a big group and I’m here to ask you guys if someone here have or had similar experiences or maybe some advice for me. Is there something I can do about it to make what ever it is go away? Is it imaginary? Most important, is my family safe?

Thank you for any feedback, much appreciated!
