I’m not sure if this kind of post is allowed, but I’m going to give it a shot.
About 10 years ago I lived in the basement of a house. It had 4 rooms, 1 of which was my room with attached bathroom. (So I guess technically 5 rooms) Upon moving in and living there I always felt as though someone was watching me. I had this image of an older gentleman in a nice Sunday church jacket and a hat. It felt as though he would stand at my bedroom door but never enter my room. I got so uncomfortable by this feeling I eventually started closing my door all of the time.
Fast forward to a few months of living there I found out by the current owners, who lived upstairs, that it had been a family home. Their father had owned it before them and he was a mean man who stayed in the house until he died. (For clarification though, he didn’t die in the house) They had just hung photos up in their living room, one being a family portrait that looked to be taken in the 70s. Staring back at me was this man I had been imagining watching me from the doorway of my bedroom. I didn’t really think much of it, I had to have seen a photo of him before and that’s why I imagined it was him.
Fast forward again, this is where the title of my post comes into play. I started waking up in the middle of the night frequently to the lights being on when I know I turned them off before going to bed and a with memories of this “dream”.
In my “dream” I would “wake up” to the lights being turned off and on repetitively. I would sit straight up and they would stop (always turned on). I would ask, if someone was there to do it again. They would turn them off and I would ask them to turn them back on and again they would comply.
Eventually, I would actually wake up to the lights being on. I would get this sick feeling in my stomach, get out of bed and turn the lights off before trying to go back to sleep. Wondering if what had happened was just a dream or real.
I have life like dreams often but this was different. This felt way different.
Fast forward one more time, I moved out of that house 3 years ago and not once have I had that dream or woken up with the lights on in the middle of the night. Something that had been a multiple times a week occurrence.
So was it actually a dream? Or was this paranormal?
